Hi, what do you mean by smoothing tool? is it brush smoothing?

If so you may have the Tool options set to "In toolbar" which makes the tool
options be a popup docker like brush settings or preset chooser is.
Make sure you have tool options set to "in Docker" if you find this confusing:
