Ok. This is the same problem as was reported in Bug 413401. This only happens
if you have a spreadsheet as child of a workbook and the plot created via the
plot data dialog is also added as a child to the workbook. This bug is fixed in
2.8. 

As a workaround: 
1. if you want to use the plot data dialog, don't create spreadsheets as
childrenn of workbooks
2. create manually a worksheet first and then let new plot to be created in
this workhseet, as you also already realized.
