            Bug ID: 419612
Summary: Set video speed to take a specific time rather than
                    scale to a specific percentage
           Product: kdenlive
           Version: 19.12.3
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Effects & Transitions
          Assignee: vpi...@kde.org
          Reporter: sil-...@kryogenix.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Kdenlive allows me to change the speed of a video to a percentage of its normal
playback speed. However, I quite often would like to change a video clip, not
to be 85% of its current speed, but so that it takes the same amount of time as
another clip: that is, to make that change visually rather than by numbers. It
would be very useful to allow changing a video's speed by dragging it out on
the timeline so that I can visually set it to take a certain time to play back.
Without this, I have to iteratively guess at percentages by doing a sort of
mental version of binary search: let's try setting it to 60%, no, that's too
short, hit Undo, try 70%, no, that's too long, Undo, try 65%, too long, Undo,
63%, too short, Undo, 64%, that seems about right. It would be much nicer to be
able to drag the video clip to the right length and have the computer do the
mathematics to calculate exactly the speed change.
