Yes, you are right. If we set to not showing this progress indicator, the only
way to switch it back is to modify the config file.

Configure it in a hotkey is doable. However, it could be a little bit confusing
for some users, since everyone tends to not looking for a hotkey to solve the
problem when the progress indication disappears. Therefore, I am not sure it's
a good idea to put it in a hotkey.

How about we do it otherwise, by using a hotkey to hide the progress bar? Then
it will never appear again until the hotkey is repressed.
