            Bug ID: 423028
Summary: Failed to create proxy clips when running out of
                    memory
           Product: kdenlive
           Version: 20.04.2
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Video Display & Export
          Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
          Reporter: m...@iyanmv.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Sometimes, when many videos are imported at the same time, or a new folder is
set to be proxied, proxy clips failed to be create because of running out of
memory.

I am using x264-nvenc encoding profile for the proxy clips.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Choose x264-nvenc as encoding profile in Settings -> Proxy clips -> Encoding
profile
2. Put a few videos in a folder and then right click -> Proxy folder

OBSERVED RESULT

Two or three proxy clips start to be generated. Next one failed with the error:
"[h264_nvenc @ 0x563c15416d80] OpenEncodeSessionEx failed: out of memory (10)"

When first clips are done, it doesn't try to generate the ones that failed.

EXPECTED RESULT

It would be nice if Kdenlive could know when not to start a new proxy clip
because of low memory (or handle the out of memory error better, and try again
when other clips are finished). Or if this is not possible, at least an option
to limit the amount of simultaneous proxy clips. That also would work nice.
