Could you please make a screen recording of the problem? I have followed your
steps and couldn't reproduce any problem. The only thing that I could see is
2px delay between the start of the painting, which is the threshold for
selecting the assistant that is going to be followed.
PS:
Just a wild guess, perhaps you had a Brush Stabilizer mode active and had
"Scalable Distance" checkbox activated? It could cause some weird behavior in
Krita before Krita 4.3. Could you test it with Krita 4.3 release?
