Yes, the thumbnail displays media controls for the media player in the browser,
no matter which tab is focused. That's because said media player is still being
targeted by the controls; it's perfectly possible for you to play and pause the
media while the tab is not visible or the window is minimized. A lot of people
use this feature when listening to music on YouTube, for example. If we
implemented your suggestion, this would break.
