I'm aware how it works. Constantly I use it working with Notepad++ in my
regular work. And I think this one in KTextEditor is less comfortable and less
safe.

In my opinion switching mode implemented in KTextEditor is more leading to
accidental mistakes in editing, just because user can forget that this mode is
turned on. He needs look to status bar to be sure that this mode is turned
on/off. Just compare this to block mode working only when keys shortcut
combination is hold on. And after release this combination user back to normal
selection mode. Switching mode implemented in KTextEditor needs more activities
from user - he needs to press proper keys combination twice.
