I had the same thought, and tried a couple different kernels on Arch yesterday, like Zen, and the 5.8 testing kernel. No luck. I was going to try 5.4 just now but the nvidia module won't rebuilt due to mismatching gcc, and setting the environment variable to the older gcc or ignoring it altogether wasn't working for some reason. Anyway, I'd imagine that this may be out of KDE's control, especially given all of the particulars involved.
