This started, after I added ppa repo and installed from there. When I saw the issue, I uninstalled (purge), removed the repo from sources, and re installed from the ubuntu repo. The issue persisted. IF I launch kdenlive by opening an existing project (by double clicking it in the file browser) Then the save as, open, and new dialogs work, although they look very strange and you dont see drives (computer) - you have to go through /media/ to get to other drives.
