Unfortunately, bluetooth supports microphones only in HSP/HFP mode (not in
A2DP, which is the default for bluez). Currently, this HSP/HFP mode and its
codecs for micrphone support are in a very bad state in bluez/pulseaudio, which
does the sound handling and bluetooth handling. Your problem is not a issue
with bluedevil.
Hopefully it will get better with pulseaudio 14.
