What you're calling a doubled line is an artifact of some apps' main views
still being inside a frame. This is something we plan to fix in Plasma 5.22.
But the separator line stays, sorry. :)
As for its color, there is a faction in KDE's visual design group that prefers
dark-colored separators when using a dark theme. I happen to be in that group.
I think it would look great. We haven't reached a consensus yet though.
