In that case, we don't even know what the problem is, so we can't ascertain whether your proposed solution would be best for everyone. :) The problem seems valid to me, especially with today's emphasis on remote meetings. Can you go to System Settings > Audio > Advanced > Check the checkbox next to "Automatically switch all running streams when a new output becomes available"? Then this will happen automatically.
