On my gaming desktop with NVIDIA GPU, I have to set the default display using the NVIDIA X Server Settings and have it write an xorg.conf so that SDDM will also be updated to work with my setup. My laptop doesn't have a tool that can do that because it's an Intel-based laptop with iGPU.
