The applet looks a lot better now! The problem with this solution right now is that all the tool tips show up immediately upon opening the calendar (by clicking the clock) and also if I select a specific day. Sometimes (as in the attached screenshot) the tool tips cover the whole applet making it impossible to hide them without closing the entire applet. I would have expected the tips to show up on clicking or hovering the event in the list on the left.
