Bug ID: 439366
Summary: All windows should open in the primary display if the
secondary display is switched off or an option for it
is checked
Product: plasmashell
Version: 5.14.5
Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Application Launcher (Kickoff)
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected], [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
SUMMARY
First of all, I'm not sure if this is the correct package and component to file
this issue, please move it elsewhere if the selected product/component is not
appropriate.
Under displays I have selected a screen as "Primary display". Despite of that
some windows keep getting opened on a secondary display that is switched off.
It would be best if it detected that the screen is switched off and display all
windows in the primary display. Alternatively or additionally, there could be
an option like "open all windows in primary display" in case that can't be
detected or if the user wants all windows to open in the primary display
despite of additional displays being connected and switched on.
Some windows keep getting opened in a secondary, switched-off display even
though I moved them to the primary display which means if they opened in the
secondary display due to remembering their position they should open in the
primary display from that point on. These are VeraCrypt windows but it also
happens for other programs iirc.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect two monitors and select one as primary display
2. Turn off the secondary display
3. Use the computer until a window such as a VeraCrypt window is opened in the
secondary display
OBSERVED RESULT
Window opens in switched-off secondary display.
EXPECTED RESULT
Should open in switched-on primary display.
