For your actual problem: I urged the community several times to rewrite PresentWindows and DesktopGrid, see for example: https://blog.martin-graesslin.com/blog/2013/04/hitting-walls-a-story-of-present-windows-2/ The approach presented in this blog post would most likely also address your wish.
