            Bug ID: 441944
Summary: setting gain in clip properties/audio mutes audio
           Product: kdenlive
           Version: 21.08.1
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Video Display & Export
          Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
          Reporter: and...@alweb.dk
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
If I select an audio track in the clip properties audio tab, I can enable
"mute" and adjust the gain. It is unclear weather those have anything to do
with each other, there is no documentation about this or tooltips explaining
the function of the controls (sic!)

Just eabling normalise in the testet clips makes them louder in timeline
representation but not in clip monitor, but if I adjust the gain control, any
representation of the clip in the timeline is muted, and that can not be
recovered.

I assume that adjusting the gain to -23 would have similar effect as using the
normalise audio effects, but adding the clip to the timeline again it is still
mute.

Only recovery is to kill kdenlive and say no thanks to recover autosaved data.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Read above.

OBSERVED RESULT
Read above

EXPECTED RESULT
I would expect this to work, like a clip would not be muted but rather
normalised according to the set gain.

In another comment, I do not understand the purpose of the "Copy channel"
checkboxes.

To do: Please document this. Or if you can refer to information about this, I'd
be happy to add it to the manual.
