most likely kscreen does not get any event from X-Server that the screen got
(de)tached while the system was in suspend.
To verify please run the tool xev from a konsole before going to suspend, do
your screen (un)plugging and then after resume check in the xev output for RR*
events. If there are any please paste them here.
Note that xev might report many events given that it just intercepts all X11
events.
