Experiencing this issue as well on Plasma 5.23.1 on Arch Linux. I have a folder
on a slow HDD with 18k images, Gwenview used to take a second or two to open
compared to images on an SSD. But since 21.04 it has become unreasonably slow,
taking minutes to become responsive. The same applies for my folder with 250k
images. This took, understandably, a bit of time previously to open and become
responsive, maybe 5 seconds or so. But since this update, it takes several
minutes.
