--- Comment #2 from John Dennison <john.denni...@blueyonder.co.uk> ---
Hi Maik,
Many thanks for the reply and comments. I hadn't uninstalled 7.3 before and
I am sure it was the answer to my problem.
It might be of interest to you that the other aspect of the problem for
myself also involved F-Secure or Windows security blocking the full
download. At the end of the download it kept warning that the file was
unknown and might be hazardous, requiring the file to be 'kept', or
otherwise being automatically erased. Though I had 'kept' before your
advice the downloaded file hadn't installed v 7.4, but had either asked for
a program that would open it, or opened the v 7.3 when it was still
installed - the downloaded file didn't seem to be an .exe file or act like
one. I'm not sure if I inadvertently did anything to affect this process
when following your advice, as it did occur the first instance I tried to
download and install after removing v 7.3, but then it all went fine.
Not sure that my observations are of any interest, or just confusing.
Many thanks for your advice and the great software, and apologies for any
inconvenience caused..
Best wishes
John Dennison

Did you uninstall digiKam-7.3.0 via Settings-> Apps beforehand? What is the
name of the file you downloaded?
Maik
