            Bug ID: 447945
Summary: Ability to continually show green markings indicating
                    changes
           Product: kate
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
          Reporter: herzensch...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Kate has a feature where green markings on the left indicate whether the file
has been edited.
I'd like for there to be a non-default option so that those green markings can
stay even after closing the file, maybe for the duration of a Kate session.

Use case: I receive .tex files from a client, revise/proofread them, then send
them back. It's really useful to know which lines I have edited so far because
I can backtrack to them easily (and not have to resort to a diff to find my
changes). Currently I simply keep Kate open and suspend my laptop, which is
rather impractical when the files I get to proofread are over 10k lines. I
already use the "Load last used session" setting so I can resume from where I
was before, so I think my use case should be pretty easy to picture.
