Bug ID: 448795 Summary: Laptop touchpad sometimes doesn't work after login Product: plasmashell Version: 5.23.90 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk Reporter: indecisiveautoma...@gmail.com CC: plasma-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY Sometimes my laptop touchpad doesn't work after logging in. It will work in SDDM but will occasionally not work after logging in. This seems to have gotten less and less prevalent with updates but still occurs regularly. A few versions ago, a surefire way to reproduce this was to not touch the trackpad when logging in. Then after logging in, the touchpad would not respond to any input. Even then, it still had a chance to occur if you used the touchpad before logging in, and even still does now, but when it happens is seemingly random and not reliably reproducible. I was waiting for some more fixes for Ryzen-based laptops as there were several bugs relating to those, but as this still persists, perhaps it is a KDE bug. This issue did not and does not occur for me when taking from sleep. Touchpad input always works after waking from sleep in my tests over the last 9 months. I have not tested X11 in several months, but it occurred on X11 and Wayland, and still occasionally occurs on Wayland. STEPS TO REPRODUCE I cannot find a reliable way to reproduce, it seems to randomly occur after login. OBSERVED RESULT Touchpad sometimes does not work after logging in, even if it works on SDDM. EXPECTED RESULT Touchpad works after logging in always. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.16.0-arch1-1 KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.90 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.90.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Tested on a Dell Inspiron laptop. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
