After reading through the comments above. I deleted all files from
~/.config/session, and logged out, and then back in.
This is a test using KDE and X11.
I have two monitors with 9 different Activites defined. EVERYTHING ended up in
the first Activity. I typically run my system for weeks at a time, because of
this problem, with having to reposition all my returning windows, and
restarting all the ones that don't reappear.

I repositioned all the windows (firefox, Okular, Dolphin, x3270). All the Gnome
terminal windows did not reappear.
I found the following in ~/.config/session and removed them.
