I'm happy to be able to say that I believe Tellico already has the functionality to do just as you've requested. If you add a new field to a collection, of type URL, then you can enter a path to a local file or a fully remote URL. Clicking the link would then open that file in associated program. You can have multiple fields of this type if you choose, in any collection type. https://docs.kde.org/trunk5/en/tellico/tellico/details.html#url Double-clicking the entry won't open it, but the link in the view will be active for clicking.
