It can't be done as long as the desktop, lock screen, and login screen have different capabilities as to what they can display. This only works in environments where all of them have the same capabilities. Otherwise you would try to do something like set a slideshow on your desktop and you wouldn't see it on your login screen, because the login screen doesn't have that capability.
