Bug ID: 455122
Summary: First keypress is not forwarded to password input box
on X11
Product: kscreenlocker
Version: 5.24.90
Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: greeter
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
When you lock the screen, a picture is shown without any user info or a
password entry box. Pressing any key on the keyboard brings the keyboard focus
to the box, but the character which the user pressed is ignored (i.e. the box
starts empty). This means that if a user just tries to type their password from
the lock screen, they will always miss the first character on the first
attempt, leading to an incorrect password. As far as I remember, this problem
wasn't there in 5.24.5.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Lock screen
2. Press any letter key
OBSERVED RESULTS
Password dialog is shown, with no character entered
EXPECTED RESULTS
Key pressed should have been entered into the password dialog
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.90
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.94.0

Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 8 × AMD Ryzen 5 3500U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx
Memory: 21.5 GiB of RAM
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Seems similar to an existing Wayland-only bug (bug 397318), but I get this
issue on X11 since 5.24.90.
