--- Comment #8 from Aaron Williams <aar...@doofus.org> --- Yes. Any changes to the settings of Kate do not seem to take hold. Note that I had numerous instances of Kate running. I was able to fix this by logging out and deleting ~/.local/share/kate/anonymous.katesession.
