Apologies if I confused you but I didn't mean using the user without password.
Inside **Settings** > **Personalization** > **Users** do you see an option for
setting up/configuring fingerprint authentication as shown in attachment?

Are you using GDM or SDDM?

Can you output the configuration of the following files?
/etc/pam.d/sddm
/etc/pam.d/system-local-login
/etc/pam.d/kde
/etc/pam.d/sudo
/etc/pam.d/su
