I don't want to jump to conclusions before the discussion has progressed, but I
think QLocale may not be the right tool for the job. It is effectively just a
string formatting class, but I am not sure Qt will be willing to expand its
scope to include formats that are not tied to "locales". They seem pretty
married to the "localization" point of view where everything is regions and
languages.

Maybe Plasma and the KDE applications should start adding custom formats, or
maybe we can revive KLocale. But this comes at the cost of losing consistency
with pure Qt and other applications that do not use KDE frameworks.
