Disabling the kscreen service has made resume from suspend reliable for me.
However, there are some caveats: I do need to rearrange the monitors when
logging into a session (e.g. after reboot or logout); additionally, I'm doing
this on a desktop system and I suspect disabling kscreen will make hotplugging
displays an issue, or at least less convenient.
