Another update:

1. An attempt to reduce the data records to less than 4061 via the user
interface was unsuccessful: The database (i.e. Adressen.tc or tellico.xml) with
4040 data records was then damaged in the way originally shown. A test showed
that a single edit (e.g. adding an entry) was enough to generate the total
loss.

2. Another attempt: reduction of the number of datasets with Focal and Tellico
3.2.3 to less than 4061 and use with Jammy / Tellico 3.4.4. Result as with a
much larger number: Corresponding data records are displayed garbled on the
user interface. The database itself (*.tc or *.xml) is retained if it is not
edited on the user interface before exiting.

The effect of a correct display described in my previous information could only
be achieved by editing the original tellico.xml and reducing it to the lines
and data sets mentioned. So it shouldn't just be a bug that becomes apparent
when a maximum number of records is exceeded, but something more serious.
