Don't forget that digiKam is compiled on Intel Macbook pro and Rosetta 2 emulator is used at run time by MacOS with M1 CPU to translate in live x86_64 binary instructions to Arm. Perhaps the problem is here... and the ultimate solution is to compile an Universal PKG including x86_64 and Arm binary version. This cannot be done with an Intel CPU as XCode do not support cross compiling to Arm. An Silicon CPU computer must be used in this case.
