            Bug ID: 464329
Summary: Brave requesting password for kwallet, but Brave is
                    already running.
    Classification: Applications
           Product: kwalletmanager
           Version: 22.12.1
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: va...@kde.org
          Reporter: crptdng...@gmx.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
Issue: After running Brave browser and then running Thunderbird email, I open a
weblink from inside a mail that contains a weblink. Brave should be opened to
open and display the website of that link. Brave is opening the link, but it is
asking for password first although Brave is already running and there is no
need to do that.

Some details about my current password settings:
I have siduction linux running on my notebook (debian testing). It is
configured to login me automatically without showing login dialogue screen. It
is booting directly into KDE desktop as I am the only user anyway. kwallet
manager is started in background. WLAN password is correctly used to log into
WLAN. WLAN is fully working without issues. When opening kwallet manager and
also opening current password wallet, I can see there is a WLAN password
stored. Counter for WLAN password is (1).
There is also a folder for Brave. But, in contrast to WLAN, there is no
password stored. Counter for Brave password is (0).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Boot into KDE desktop / alternatively wake up notebook from suspend-to-disc,
2. run Brave browser, browse to any website,
3. run Thunderbird email and open a mail that contains a link that needs to be
opened in Brave (HTML etc.)
4. click link inside mail.

OBSERVED RESULT
4. Brave is requesting Brave password via kwallet manager, but it is already
running. This step is not necessary.

EXPECTED RESULT
4. Brave should open and display weblink. No password request required.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
1. What worries me a bit is that opening link via Brave after entering password
works, as no password is even stored for Brave at all, kwallet just shows
folder for Brave, but no password (0).
2. It is actually possible to skip entering the password (or override it while
doing a screenshot of windows). Then brave will also open the link.
3. If Brave is not yet running and password entry is skipped, Brave will open
using another user profile, i.e. if while browsing on my profile I am viewing a
youtube video and then closing it, Brave will open this video again and
continue playback. If I skip password entry it will not continue playback.
4. I can open kwallet and also open current password wallet. In this case Brave
is not asking for password.
5. I have reported this issue to Brave team who say I should consider reporting
it to KDE team.
6. Issue is seen using current stable version of Brave and also beta version of
Brave.
7. Thunderbird has issue with its password settings, too. Setting it to "Always
ask" still ends up in password request for Brave.
8. Alternative browser chromium is unable to detect if it is default browser
and also states it is unable to set itself as default browser.
