Bug ID: 464686 Summary: The slide effect for changing desktops is nauseating Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 5.26.5 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: effects-various Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: dupajasia2...@autograf.pl Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** Desktop slide effect is nauseating [was changed between kwin 5.24 and present] STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Enable virtual desktops 2. Enable slide effect when changing desktops 3. Add a keyboard shortcut for changing desktops 4. Make sure you have some kind of plastic bag available 5. Switch desktops OBSERVED RESULT The effect is very slow and causes nauseating feeling EXPECTED RESULT The effect should be fast and behave like it did in the previous versions of kwin SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: Archlinux (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.102.0 Qt Version: 5.15.8 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I've dug up the commit that changed this behavior, and from the commit history I've concluded that this change was made because one of the developers is using touchpad gestures (are they even a thing on linux?) and wanted to make it feel more natural for him... and now I can't use multiple desktops. Commit hash: 00ae7d38 I've already tried contacting the person who made this change but I got no response, so this bug tracker is the last hope for me I guess. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
