It seems okay to preserve it as long as there are at least one quick-tiled window on either side of the split, but once that ceases to be the case, the split should reset to its midpoint position. The name "Quick Tiling"e even communicates that this is a short-term transient thing; if you want a more permanent setup, you should use the new Custom Tiling system.
