STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. install digiKam 8.0 on Windows 11 (upgraded from 7.10 in my case)
2. start digiKam
3. wait for the initial small window to scan from 0% until... it crashes. The
splash screen came up a few times but it doesn't anymore.

OBSERVED RESULT
digiKam 8.0 on Win11 quietly crashes

EXPECTED RESULT
to get to the splash screen and then start working with my photos
