I can confirm this bug. Kate 23.04.0 starts without troubles, while 23.04.1
crashes without output in terminal. I'm using Kubuntu 22.04.2 LTS,
5.19.0-41-generic.
I use Kate Sessions, so whenever I start Kate, I see "Manage Sessions" window.
I hope this will help reproducing the bug.
I tried to strace kate (sudo strace -o kate-buggy.log -ff -u user -E
HOME=/home/user kate). Kate created ~250 child processes and strace did not
stop, I had to do kill -9.
