Despite the unnecessarily accusatory and aggressive tone of this bug report
(could you please tone it down in future bug reports, John? Hope springs
eternal...), I do agree that it's not an ideal default setting to add a
trailing newline automatically. The use case described here seems valid. I've
also seen this pollute diffs in KDE merge requests with unnecessary whitespace
changes.
