Bug ID: 471017 Summary: Plymouth and SDDM themes configuration add-ons location in System Settings Classification: Applications Product: systemsettings Version: unspecified Platform: Gentoo Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: kcm_sddm Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: msdobre...@gmail.com CC: k...@david-redondo.de, k...@davidedmundson.co.uk Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY As a user, I am confused by the fact that Plymouth theme setup add-on ~ named Boot Splash Screen ~ is placed in Appearance section of the System Settings, but SDDM theme setup ~ named Login Screen (SDDM) ~ is placed in Startup and Shutdown section of the System Settings. Plymouth is good to be able to setup from Plasma, but Plymouth itself is not a part of it, it takes place before and after Plasma runs and would be better set in Startup and Shutdown section. Yet, from the System Settings it is possible to setup Plymouth appearance, so it is correctly set in Appearance, IMO. SDDM aims to be part of Plasma (on X11 or Wayland) and, form System Settings, its appearance can be setup only, so its add-on place fits better in the Appearance section of these. Considering the above, my request is to move SDDM addon to Appearance section of System Settings, as there is no supplementary SDDM behavior, other than its looks, configured by the add-on.
