            Bug ID: 471048
Summary: Color scheme detection does not allow the user to
manually set if they want external applications to use
                    dark mode or not.
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: xdg-desktop-portal-kde
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
          Reporter: alexandermoen...@gmail.com
                CC: aleix...@kde.org, jgrul...@redhat.com, n...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Because reading the user's preferred color scheme uses the background color of
their theme, it does not allow the user to directly set if they want other
applications to use light or dark themes. This is especially a major issue
because chromium based browsers now only allow websites to detect the system
theme through the xdg portal, so users can not use a light theme for desktop
programs, but use a dark theme with websites for example. An override value of
some sort would be especially useful. This is not a bug per-say, but would be a
very good feature to have.
