Bug ID: 479280 Summary: Widgets are not restored to their initial positions after screen rotation Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 5.27.10 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: apanda...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY I have a convertible laptop that supports automatic screen rotation (Plasma 5.27.9, Arch Linux). After rotating the screen from horizontal (normal) → vertical → horizontal, all my desktop widgets move to the left part of the screen, since the intermediate vertical orientation had less width. I want the widgets to remember their initial positions when the screen was horizontal, after the orientation changes back to horizontal. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Place some widgets (like weather, color picker, sticky notes, etc.) on the screen. 2. In a laptop/tablet that supports screen rotation, rotate the screen from horizontal (initial orientation) -> vertical -> back to horizontal. OBSERVED RESULT Observe that all the widgets have lost their positions. EXPECTED RESULT Widgets should be restored to their initial position when the screen is back to its initial orientation (horizontal), even though the widget positions changed in the positions in the intermediate vertical position.
