I agree it's not very useful. But preventing it is challenging. The virtual
desktop preview is literally a video of what's happening on that desktop. For
example if a movie is playing, its picture will update live. So we have no way
to visually suppress something from appearing there without freezing the image,
which people would complain about.
Maybe what we could do is suppress trigger shortcuts of Plasma applets while
Overview is open. Then Kickoff wouldn't open in the first place.
