I have exactly the same issue on a laptop with intel/nvidia combo, on X11 (not
able to find a way to make wayland work for now), if I lock the screen
(Ctrl+Alt+L), then I got a black screen instead of my lock screen, and then the
screen blinks.
>From my experience: the screen keeps black if we didn't touch the computer for
1 or 2s, and blinks when we try to move the mouse and type anything on the
keyboard.
The blinking seems to be caused by the backlight, it's not just a "black
picture" with visible mouse, but it seems to be the entire backlight that is
powered off, and then powered on, and off, etc...
