Bug ID: 484283 Summary: Task Manager threshold to switch to icons-only too soon in Plasma 6 Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 6.0.2 Platform: openSUSE OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Task Manager and Icons-Only Task Manager Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: john....@pelago.org.uk CC: qydwhotm...@gmail.com Target Milestone: 1.0 Created attachment 167628 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=167628&action=edit KDE 5 behaviour SUMMARY When using Task Manager (not Icons-Only Task Manager) and opening many windows (with no grouping), the point where it switches from showing the icon and the window name to just showing the icon is too soon in Plasma 6, compared to Plasma 5. STEPS TO REPRODUCE In both Plasma 5 and Plasma 6: 1. Choose Task Manager from the Alternatives popup 2. Open multiple windows 3. Count how many you can open before the window name disappears from the task manager buttons OBSERVED RESULT The number of windows you can open in Plasma 6 before it drops the window name from the task manager buttons is less than in Plasma 5. (The actual numbers will depend on screen resolution etc.) EXPECTED RESULT The number of windows you can open in Plasma 6 before it drops the window name from the task manager buttons is the same as in Plasma 5. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20240321 KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0 Qt Version: 6.6.2 Kernel Version: 6.8.1-1-default (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50GHz Memory: 15.5 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 620 Manufacturer: HP Product Name: HP ProBook 450 G4 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION See the attached screencasts, taken from VirtualBox running the openSUSE Leap 15.5 Live KDE iso (for Plasma 5) and the openSUSE Tumbleweed KDE iso (for Plasma 6). I have shown the configuration of task manager, to try and make the screencasts comparable. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
