Nowadays, I enjoy the effectiveness of extreme simplicity:
dwl <- wlroots <- wayland; plus bemenu and foot - that's all
to support any ( KDE ) application I might need:

perfectly providing a 2x2 Monitor workstation (Gentoo) setup
as well as a "Road Warrior" Notebook.
