            Bug ID: 484994
Summary: Cannot Update plasmoids, themes, etc. without manual
                    deletion of .local files first.
    Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
           Product: frameworks-knewstuff
           Version: 6.0.0
          Platform: Other
                OS: Other
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: ad...@leinir.dk
          Reporter: fake.n...@posteo.net
                CC: alexander.loh...@gmx.de, kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Since the upgrade to plasma 6, no applets, plasmoids, themes, etc. can be
updated (if for plasma 6) or re-installed (if originally for plasma 5). The
error is always the same: clicking the install or update button raises a dialog
(twice, actually; it reopens immediately after closing) which informs the user
of something which will resemble the following (redacted userl info, but left
the particular plasmoid, which is only for plasma 6)

Installation of /tmp/jvLiNx-plasmoid-panel-colorizer-v0.3.0.plasmoid failed:
/home/$MYUSERNAME/.local/share/plasma/plasmoids/luisbocanegra.panel.colorizer
already exist

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Download a non-stock plasmoid
2. Wait for an update to be put out
3. In the Get New Widgets menu ultimately launched by the global edit, attempt
to update the plasmoid
4. Error message will occur

OBSERVED RESULT
It is impossible to update plasmoids without deleting them MANUALLY to
reinstall them.

EXPECTED RESULT
Buttons for install, update, etc. will do as they say, deleting or rewriting
any files which they need to; asking for privileges, if necessary, or prompting
a dialog about which files are being changed.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: Arch on Zen 6.8.2
KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0
Qt Version: 6.6.3

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I tried to fill out Platform, Severity, and OS, but those drop down menus are
actually not appearing.. but that's for a whole different bug report, I
suppose.
