Bug #454268 is not necessarily related. Haven't checked rar specifically, but
7z is somewhat of a special beast, an external 7z executable is used to get
information about the contents of the archive, and it's surely really slow.
It's not really an endless hang, your setup is just likely not fast enough to
deal with the matter in a reasonable amount of time. Surprisingly the file
listing procedure is unusually CPU intensive as mentioned in Bug #457906 and
Bug #422142 already.
