The cause is probably not the image itself. GPhoto2 has a problem with your
camera device/connection. Which camera model is it?
Note that digiKam requires an exclusive connection with GPhoto2 to your camera.
There are now background services on various desktops that display the status
of the camera in the system section of the taskbar. Some do not release the
connection again and digiKam cannot use the USB port via GPhoto2. Then use a
USB card reader or disable the corresponding background services on your
desktop.
