Bug ID: 493116
Summary: Network Manager Applet has broken entries in Qt 6.8
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasma-nm
Version: 6.1.90
Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: applet
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
When I updated to plasma 6.2 beta using the arch repos. I also got qt 6.8 beta.
With this version of Qt, the network manager applet in the sys tray contains a
handful of entries that have no ssd and a disconnect button. Not to mention I
dont' think any of those entries are real available networks either.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Click on the network manager systray icon.
2. Scroll to the bottom.
OBSERVED RESULT
Empty entries that contain no ssid and only a disconnect button on the far
right.
EXPECTED RESULT
Those entries should be formatted correctly and contain names or they shouldn't
be there at all if they aren't valid networks.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: EndeavourOS
KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.90
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.5.0
Qt Version: 6.8.0
Kernel Version: 6.10.9-zen1-2-zen (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor
Memory: 62.7 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080/PCIe/SSE2
Manufacturer: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd.
Product Name: MS-7C95
System Version: 1.0
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I was connected to ethernet and I don't have wifi enabled in the bios of my
desktop, so I'm pretty sure those entries shouldn't have been there at all. Qt
6.8 seem to cause quite a few more issues in plasma 6.2 overall, so I
downgraded my system. Thus, I don't have a screenshot for this one.
Additionally I installed openSUSE Tumbleweed with the Krypton repos on an old
spare laptop and can confirm that this bug does not occur on their version of
plasma 6.2 compiled against Qt 6.7.
